Carson Barker, age 82, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the Ballad Health Hospice House. He was born March 11, 1940 in Washington County, Va., a son of the late Glen and Lola Barker. Carson was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and retired from Goodpasture Motors. He loved farming and was a member of Willow Branch Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Barker; and brothers, Silas Richard Dye and Cecil Gordon.
Survivors include his son, Carson Jeffrey Barker (Jennifer); daughter, Connie Barker; sisters, Glenna Lyons (Kenneth), Mildred Worley, Helen Shaffer (Jimmy), Brenda Necessary (Verlin); several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; special friends, Gerald Beanie, Joe and April Strong and their son, Ryan Strong, and Scott and Kim Hale.
The graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Barker Cemetery with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Verlin Necessary, Tim Necessary, James Clark, Garry Clark, Bobby Cox, Greg Leonard and Coty Stout. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ballad Hospice House for their loving care.
